TSAVO AND MOMBASA SAFARI PACKAGE

The joint mass of Tsavo west and east national parks forms one of the largest national parks in the world and covers a massive 4% of Kenya’s total land area. Tsavo East, the lager of the two lies to the east of Nairobi and offers a vast and untapped arena of arid bush which is washed by the azure and emerald meandering of the Galana river; guarded by the limitless lava reaches of the yatta plateau and patrolled by some of the largest elephant herds in Kenya. On the other hand Tsavo West the famous of the two, lies to the west of Nairobi—Mombasa road. It is painted on a sprawling canvas of endless skies, emerald hills, liquid lava flows, palm-fringed rivers, teeming wildlife and sparking oases set against the unforgettable backdrop of mile upon mile of cloud-shadowed African savannah

Day 1
0800hrs Depart Nairobi and drive south towards Tsavo east national park which is the largest in Kenya and famous for, Elephant in den, Aruba dam, mudana rock the longest lava flow in the world, Laggard’s falls and spectacular voyages of discovery 1300hrs: Lunch at Mtito Andei (PAY DIRECT) .Here the guide will give a brief history of the region, including the construction of the “Lunatic railway line”. Continue with the game drive through Tsavo west national park to grasp the feeling of the world wonder, naturalness and beauty. 1800hrs: Dinner and overnight at Tsavo camp

Day 2
After an early breakfast drive towards Tsavo West; the land of lava, springs and man-eaters. 1300hrs: picnic lunch at famous mzima springs, the lush hippo- heaving pools of mzima springs, fed daily by250 million litres of water gushing from the lava flows of the chyulu hills provide an oasis of green, an underwater hippo viewing chamber, two nature trails. Continue with the game drive inside theTsavo west national park to grasp the feeling of the world wonder, naturalness and beauty. This park is famous for: the magic Mzima Springs, Ancient lands of lions and lava, vibrant volcanic arena, poacher’s lookout and glorious game drives, 1800hrs: Dinner and overnight at Tsavo camp

Day 3
After an early breakfast from Tsavo West National Park drive through the park to Mtito Andei. Lunch at Voi (PAY DIRECT) then drive past Taru desert to Mombasa and proceed to fort Jesus, and thereafter take a walk at Haller park (formerly Bamburi nature trails) the famous example of land reclamation and environmental conservation. Overnight stay at glory Palace or similar.

Day 4
After an early breakfast drive towards South coast past Diani to Shimoni Village. On arrival enjoy a classic light Swahili snack of traditional sweet bread & fresh fruit with Arabic coffee or Swahili tea (pay direct) in the famous Shimoni caves At 0900hrs board a converted authentic Lamu dhow and in comfort with space to stretch out, relax and enjoy the cold breeze depart for Kisite National Marine Park for snorkeling & sustainable, responsible dolphin spotting. Kisite Marine Park is the best underwater park on the Kenya Coast. For snorkelers masks (+ limited prescription masks) & snorkels, fins & and full diving gear for divers is provided. Non swimming guests can enjoy the underwater using glass bottomed viewers from the accompanying support dinghy. The Dhow sails at some point during the day – traditionally rigged it’s a ‘back-in-time’ experience. Scuba diving for diving enthusiasts or a fun dive for first timers are on offer at an inexpensive additional cost for a fun, single or 2 tank dive. Lunch at Wasini Island. An excellent cash bar including our special Wasini cocktail, quality wines, beers, sodas and mineral water:
  • Bowls of marinated fish and coconut biting.
  • Freshly prepared whole crab steamed in ginger – the famous Charlie Claw’s speciality.
  • Barbequed fish fresh from the fishermen’s’ baskets with Swahili sauce, coconut rice & chapatti – a traditional Wasini Island celebration dish.
  • Tropical fruit platter of all available exotic fruits.
  • Arabic coffee and simsim – sesame sweets.
For non-seafood eaters we prepare as an alternative to crab & fish:
Fresh traditional vegetable soup followed by barbequed chicken or Swahili vegetarian.
After lunch guests have the following options: to snooze on the beds under the shade in the private gardens & cool off in the Lazy Lagoon Pool - the only pool on the island, enormous & natural; or visit the nearby Wasini village - an authentic fishing community with Arab coastal style houses, ancient tombs and mosques – and the Women’s Boardwalk community project supported by Charlie Claw’s - a spectacular coral garden & into the mangroves walk of discovery. Departure and overnight at glory palace or similar.

Day 5
After breakfast depart for Nairobi a stopover at Voi town for Lunch (PAY DIRECT). Drop-off at Nairobi at around 1830hrs.
